Eagles News · Selvey Has Good Showing in Springfield Meet

Seven swim teams including Monett, Ozark, Hillcrest, Marshfield, Greenwood, and Glendale competed in Springfield on September 15th. The Monett team did well as they won three of five head-to-head duels, beating Hillcrest, Marshfield, & Greenwood and coming up short in losses to Glendale & Ozark.

Brayden Selvey competed in four different events in the meet. He swam the last leg of the 200 yard medley relay, where the team finished 4th. He competed individually in the 50 yard freestyle placing 6th overall and in 100 yard freestyle placing 4th overall. Selvey also swam anchor for the Cubs in the 400 yard freestyle relay where the team placed 5th.

“Coach Dan has been working us hard and said that we shouldn’t expect our fastest times yet,” says Selvey. “There is definitely room for improvement and we plan to get a lot better as the season progresses. We are excited to see how we mature and do as we continue practicing every day of the week.”

The Cubs have had a good season so far and are happy with how they’ve been doing. Visit the link below to access times and more info. on the Monett Swim and Dive team.
