Multiple Teams · Lady Eagles Take 3rd in Lancer Classic

On January 16 the Lady Eagles traveled to Cherokee Kansas to kick on the Lancer Classic Tournament. The Lady Eagles went into the tournament hopeful to improve their overall record.

The first game of the tournament the Ladies faced off against South East. The Ladies kicked off the game scoring 16 points in the first quarter allowing the Lancers none. Going into half time the Lady Eagles were up 32-2. The lady Eagles kept up the pace and ended the game with a score of 47-16 earning the Ladies their first win of the tournament.

The second game was on the 19th against the first seed Baxter Springs. The Ladies played tough keeping it tied up at 8-8 going into the second quarter. At the half the Lady Eagles lead 23-21. At the end of the 4th quarter it was all tied up at 44 all. Going into overtime the Lady Eagles managed to snag 5 more points while Baxter Springs managed to score 7. The final score was 49-51 favoring Baxter Springs placing the Lady Eagles in the game for 3rd place.

The third and final game of this tournament went in favor of the lady eagles. With Ragan and Belle both scoring a total of 14 points each, the eagles had a total of 56 after 4 quarters. The eagles consistently maintained the lead through the game. One strong aspect to the lady eagles victory is their much higher free throws made percent. This helped the eagles continue the intensity of the game and come out with the victory. This game placed the lady eagles in third place.
