The Pierce City Eagles ended the regular season at a solid 19-7. This record set them at the 2 seed for the Class 2 District 12 tournament.
Pierce City took down College Heights in the first round by a score 85-46. Leading scorers for the Eagles were Trey Sagehorn and Hunter Tindell with 15 each, Aaron Garner had 14, Donell Kleiboeker posted 11, Hunter Hatfield splashed 10, Mason Moreland added 5, Devin Cox had 4, Kevin Abramovitz and Colten O’Hara both had 3, Jordan Cruz and Gage Brown added 2, and Dallas Kleiboeker had 1.
For the second round and second time this season, Pierce City defeated Purdy. This time by double the points with a score of 68-58. Leading scorers were Donell Kleiboeker with 16, Aaron Garner had 14, Trey Sagehorn added 12, Mason Moreland posted 10, Devin Cox and Hunter Tindell both had 6, and Hunter Hatfield and Dallas Kleiboeker had 2 a piece.
In the championship game, the Eagles avenged their regular season loss to McAuley with a score of 77-63. Leading scorers were Hunter Tindell with 20, Donell Kleiboeker had 18, Mason Moreland added 15, Devin Cox posted 7, Hunter Hatfield scored 5, Trey Sagehorn and Aaron Garner had 4 a piece, and Jordan Cruz and Dallas Kleiboeker had 2 each.
The Eagles are now 22-7 with the three district wins. They will play Crane in sectionals Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. in Carthage. Crane beat the Eagles early in the regular season during the Pierce City Invitational tournament by 13 points so the Eagles will be the underdogs once again looking to pull an upset.
